An ordained minister, Joyce Liechenstein considers it both a delight and a special privilege to perform weddings and blessed unions. With her interfaith background, she can comfortably accommodate people of many traditional religions, of mixed backgrounds, and of nontraditional spiritual orientations, including both straight and gay partnerships.
In a series of planning meetings prior to the wedding, Joyce encourages and helps couples to write vows and design ceremonies that reflect their personal spiritual beliefs and their commitment to each other. As a result, the weddings and blessed unions Joyce has presided over have taken many forms, but all have been joyous events. She once performed a ceremony on the Maury Povitch Show.

Marriage is a sacred journey home to God. Someone once said it is the fastest way to enlightenment. Surely a truly spiritual marriage is about putting God and the beloved first in your heart while at the same time honoring and loving yourself. It is always about giving to your partner and to God, without expectation. You marry someone else to give all you can. If you both think that way, your marriage will last.
A truly spiritual marriage is also about honoring and respecting your partner and allowing your partner freedom to grow and express his and her uniqueness and creativity. It is about constantly choosing to love and work out differences. It is choosing, in times of difficulty and challenge, to quickly return to love. Finally, it is about remembering and acting upon what is truly important: being kind, being kind, being kind.
